A Poem about Healing the Inner Child

Poem about Healing the Inner Child

Introduction

There are parts of us that grew up too quickly. They learned to stay quiet, hide their feelings, and carry wounds they never knew how to name. Yet, somewhere within us, that younger self is still waiting to be heard.

A poem about healing the inner child is more than words about the past. It is an invitation to look within, to acknowledge what once hurt, and to offer ourselves the love, patience, and safety we may have needed long ago.

A Poem about Healing the Inner Child

What did I venture out to become? Tell me what I seek to control for my sanity? All noises and disturbances spiral me from my peaceful embrace to the initiation of tornadoes in me.

I get into my world where everything is falling apart, and everybody is a villain. I spent my childhood in panic, questioning my essence and people’s intentions. Then I wandered far, forever lost. I lost myself in the process.

Trust me, I am trying really hard to find myself. I wander a lot, again and again, and I try.

I try really hard not to lose my sanity, not to find myself breaking pieces of me, not to find myself lost.
Lost again, in this crowd, again, sabotaging myself for the world.

I am the most scared of myself, as I am trying to tame all my demons within me, as they talk back to me, scare the hell out of me, as they try to build a story about people and life, as they try to build a story about the world.

In a negative spiral, they push me into the tornado, and I go round and round, trying so hard to escape.

Yet as I said, I am scared of myself, of what those demons would do to me. They say you have to shed your skin several times until it can’t rebuild itself from its remnants anymore.

Even then, you go on, feeling like you are always back to square one as you are pushed into the spiral.

You try and try really hard. But you feel your world is crashing, like it always has. You feel that they are going to hurt you again and abandon you. You have to go and hide yourself.

That little kid, fighting all the darkness himself.

How many walls have I built in me to protect this child, I don’t know.
How much distance I have created to harbour this sensitive child’s heart, I don’t know.
How many strict rules I have made for this child so that it doesn’t fall into the same spirals again, I don’t know.

As this child finds light in others. This child has grown so very scared to confide in people. She is more scared of herself.

What if her inner child ends up abandoning the child she promised to cherish with all her heart?
What if her child gets so hurt that she is unable to forgive?
What if she grows so cold and builds all those walls again?

She is, after all, at the end, the most scared of her.
All those spirals she gets entangled in,

And she looks into his eyes. She waits patiently in those spirals, very scared to not build any walls. As she doesn’t know whether she will be able to break them.

Then she closes her eyes, and she sees him in her – not as a feeling anymore, not as water to her fire.

As she tries to feel him in her. She tries to make sense of it all. She analyses and goes into the spirals again, tries to make sense of him and his actions. She again finds herself caught in circles, then in the spirals.

Then, as her tornadoes calm down, she sees him again. This time, all in her, and she doesn’t try to look for love in the language of this world.

She just let it be, and then, there he comes, like the wave, a big one, all encompassing her.

Then she again tries to make sense of it all. But she can’t because it’s the end of an era for her, end of the dynasty in her.

She must be reborn, and this time, not as her previous being. But as that which goes beyond words. This realm she has to break to enter into another realm called life, and she must operate from this part of her being.

Her thoughts, feelings, actions, attention, and all that she is. She has to be reborn. She has to let herself die.

As she comes to her core, all she shall find is peace, her family and him. But she and he aren’t separate but one, at all levels.

As her past tries to pull her back, as the spirals try to engulf her. She screams back at them.

She feels love in her heart. She feels forgiveness in her heart. She engulfs all of it with trust in her and the forces of this Universe that created her.

Like, everything can’t make sense. It is not the war of our minds to be fought, as it is beyond its grasp.

Go deeper and deeper into you, in the quiet corners of your being, into complete surrender, surrender of the surrender.

Take a deep breath, wear that smile on your face. What do you see? All your loved ones. How do you feel? Lucky and grateful.

Rest here, my dear friend, rest here.

Keep your hand on your heart, take a deep breath.

What do you see?

Yes, stay here, my dear friend, stay here.

Conclusion

A poem about healing the inner child reminds us that healing does not always mean forgetting what happened. Sometimes, it means returning to the parts of ourselves we abandoned and finally telling them that they are safe now.

The child within us does not need perfection. It needs compassion. And perhaps, healing begins when we stop judging our past and start embracing the person who survived it.
